Volunteer In Dubbo Region
Community and Volunteering Expo - 30th April from 5:30pm
Building connections and promoting volunteering.
The Dubbo region has a new volunteer service. Our focus is to increase local volunteering. The purpose for our Volunteer in Dubbo Region Program is to increase volunteering across the region by raising awareness of volunteer opportunities and benefits and strengthening the connection between not-for-profit groups.
To facilitate access for groups across the region, including towns and villages, we will hold events in Dubbo and Wellington in 2026.
A Thriving Community Starts With You
Volunteering is declining rapidly in Dubbo. Statistics show a significant local issue. Younger volunteers are not stepping up. This means no succession for leaders. Community-run events have dropped 21%. Many events lack enough helping hands so grassroots groups are missing out.
- Large organisations get many volunteers.
- Smaller, volunteer-led groups struggle.
- People do not know which groups exist.
- They are unaware of local opportunities.
- Dubbo lacks a volunteer centre.
- There is no community services directory.
Our Purpose
Our main role is to raise awareness. We promote the wonderful groups across Dubbo. We help groups connect with each other. They can learn, share, and find support. Our first goal is listing all volunteer roles. We actively promote them to interested people.
We appointed a coordinator, Camilla Ward. She connects groups and hosts showcase events. We are building a community directory this year. We use newsletters and social media to share opportunities. Regular monthly events are held for non-profits. Volunteers can connect and share resources.
- The service is under the NFP Guide Foundation.
- It is a non-profit led by volunteers.
- It is supported pro bono by NFP Guide.
- The service is not government funded.
- It has no direct link to the Dubbo Council.
Resources to Help You Start
Plenty of resources are already available. We want to ensure people can access them. We offer an online learning hub. This includes a volunteer induction. We hope to run skills building events soon. Check out our volunteer online courses. They are on the iClick2learn website HERE
There are also some great volunteering resources from The Centre for Volunteering HERE.

Camilla Ward
Project Coordinator
Hi, I’m Camilla and I’m the coordinator of Volunteering Dubbo Region. I’m here to work with not-for-profit groups to help understand what volunteer opportunities there are and to promote those opportunities. I’ll be involved in organising two volunteer showcase expos for Dubbo and one in Wellington. And I’ll be organising regular volunteering events for not for profit groups, as well as for those looking to volunteer. If you’re interested in volunteering or you’re looking for a volunteer, or you’re interested in any of our events, please call me to discuss how I can help.
